G. Jones. Geoff has a general practice
concentrating primarily in the area of elder law and guardianships.
Geoff's elder law practice includes several related disciplines, such
as probate and probate litigation, guardianship, and estate planning.
Geoff also represents small businesses in the area of contract disputes
and corporate formation.
Geoff grew up in Edmonds, Washington, and went to college at
The Evergreen State College in Olympia. Geoff has been practicing law
since 1989 after he graduated in the top 5% of his class from the
University of Oregon School of Law. He first went to work as an
Assistant Attorney General for the Washington State Attorney General's
Office in Olympia where he represented several state agencies in civil
matters including the Department of Employment Security, the
Department of General Administration and the Department of Information Systems.
In 1992, Geoff joined his father, Bruce Jones, in the private
practice of law with Newton Kight L.L.P. Since then
Geoff has enjoyed the broad range of experience he has gained in the
various areas of law in which the Newton Kight L.L.P. firm practices. Among his
other areas of practice, Geoff serves as a Guardian Ad Litem for minor
settlement matters in Snohomish County and is on the panel of arbitrators
for civil disputes for Snohomish County Mandatory Arbitration. He is
also available as a mediator especially in the areas of guardianship and
estate litigation. Geoff is a frequent speaker at professional
conferences and seminars on the topics of elder law, probate and
estate planning, and collection law.
